Leonardo L. Ribeiro
Working with private equity since 2002, Leonardo has a complete and in-depth knowledge of the Brazilian private equity market. He is frequently consulted by the media and by relevant market institutions such as the IFC/World Bank, and invited to speak at the industry’s major conferences. From 2003 to 2008 he led the research activities of Center for Private Equity Research at FGV (GVcepe), where he was responsible for a variety of market analyses. Leonardo is the author of more than 15 publications, including the book Private Equity and Venture Capital in Brazil, which became a reference for those interested in this market. He also has relevant investment consulting and business development experience, serving clients such as a pension fund, insurance company, multilateral institution, foundation, endowment, government agency and non-financial companies. Leonardo holds a bachelor’s and an MSc. degree in business from University of Sao Paulo with honors. He was awarded the Ruy Leme and the National Association of Investment Banks prizes for his work on private equity. He did part of his studies in France, including an MBA at ESSEC and a specialization in Corporate Finance at Toulouse Business School. Leonardo is a member of the Brazilian Venture Capital Association and an advisory board member of the Caribbean Investor Network. He was a founding member of the US-Brazil VC Task Force, which brought to Brazil 10 US investors with US$300 billion of assets under management. In the social field, he was the executive manager of the Solidarity-based Investment Fund. He is fluent in English, French and Italian.
Ricardo V. Kanitz
Ricardo works with alternative investments since 2003 and is one of the few professionals in Latin America with a broad alternative asset experience, spanning private equity, venture capital, real estate, infrastructure and distressed assets. He was formerly with the private equity and real estate divisions of GP Investments (the biggest PE fund manager in Latin America) and with Global Infrastructure Partners (a US$6 billion fund by Credit Suisse and GE), where he led origination, investment, monitoring and value-adding activities.
Ricardo worked on deals in sectors such as oil & gas, hospitality, real estate, airports , logistics, media, social networking and financial services. He was in the team that coordinated Gafisa’s IPO.
He was also part of the team that developed, raised and invested GP Investment’s US$300 million real estate fund (now Prosperitas) and a US$30 million distressed assets fund. Ricardo took part in the creation of the search fund Solo Corp. He holds a bachelor and a MSc.
Degree in business from University of Sao Paulo, having completed his course at Harvard, where he was VP of the Harvard Investment Association. He holds an MBA from INSEAD. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
