OPEP is the first private equity fund-of-funds in Brazil. The fund invests in best-of-breed country-specific funds and regional funds in Latin America, with a core position in Brazil. The fund also co-invests alongside select managers.
OPEP invests between $5 million to $15 million per transaction, offering its investors the exposure to a portfolio of private equity investments managed by a team of qualified professionals on the ground, who have both investment experience and deep market knowledge. The team invests alongside its LPs and its compensation is heavily based on the long-term results of the investments made, thus effectively aligning interests with fund investors.
The fund is completing approximately 5 to 8 transaction, including funds (primary and secondary) and co-investments. To diversify the risks associated with private equity investments, the fund diversifies its holdings among a broad array of stages and strategies, including growth and buyout, control and minority.
Given its innovative structure, OPEP has the flexibility to invest both on onshore and offshore funds, thus maximizing its investment opportunities.
The fund adopts an active approach to investment monitoring, participating in advisory boards and committees whenever needed, to anticipate cash flows, keep a constant dialogue with fund managers and benchmark performance.
